Movie Review: “Slumdog Millionaire”

This is a movie about a man that grew up in the slum and happens to be joining Who Wants to be a Millionaire with the purpose of reaching his true love through the television. However, everything becomes bad when Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) is able to answer the entire question correctly. With his background as a slumdog, he was being blamed for cheating because it is quite impossible for a man like Jamal to have such knowledge. The next scene then shows how a slumdog like Jamal could acquire such knowledge from his experience throughout his life.

This movie comes with a good story flow. It can hold so many stories about Jamal without living the main story which is how Jamal hardly tried to be together with his true love Latika, (Freida Pinto). Moreover, this movie also shows many kinds of message for the watcher. For example, from this movie we can learn that despite of many obstacle that it may face, love will certainly find its way to bring two people together. From this movie we can also see how strong is the between Jamal and his brother Salim (Madhur Mittal). Even though Salim can also be really bad to Jamal, he was always there when Jamal needs his help. Other than that the movie also shows about how people underestimate the people from the slum and also how hard it is to life in the slum.

I certainly loved the ending where after so many struggles Jamal and Latika can finally be together. I also like the scene where Salim seems to be, finally, regret what he had done to Jamal in the past and decided to help Jamal for the last time by helping Jamal and Latika to meet.
In conclusion, overall I like this movie because of its unique story and beautiful ending. I will certainly watch this movie again in some other spare time.
