Bangkok Dangerous (2008)

My family and I are a movie addict. Almost every Friday and Saturday, we watch movies at the Gading XXI theather. And last Saturday, I watch this movie with both of my parents. Basically this movie is a remake from the past 1999 original Bangkok Dangerous and has different actors as well. Starring the award-winning American actor as the main character, which also played as a main character in the famous movie, National Treasure, I hope that he also do the same cool actions in this new movies that are directed by the Pang Brother. Ok then I'm going to cover some of the plot in Bangkok Dangerous. Basically, the story tell us about an american hitman called Joe. One day, he is given a contract to assassinate certain people that are either bad or good. Joe only thinks of his job and duties only and will done everything to accomplish that. He is bound by a certain code that keep him remind of his job.

One, never trust another people and two, never harm any innocent that aren't involve with the job. After arriving at Bangkok, with the purpose of "holiday", he is given contract by the gangster there through a local by the name of Kong. At first sight, Joe treated Kong like an errand boy. Since Joe need a translator and someone that has local knowledge on local place at Bangkok, he hired Kong to help him in his mission there. As the story goes, Joe got injured after performing an assassination and then decided to visit the local apothecary to find a cure. There he met a local girl that works there and seems to fall in love with her. After that encounter, Joe works "double" time. This time he goes to work and also at the same time, go dating with that local girl. Unfortunately that local girl are numb and she also didn't know that joe was a murderer.

Joe has 5 target in Bangkok and he already finished 3 of the hit list. So he needs to kill 2 more target in order to succesfully completed his contract. the fourth target this time, was a criminal that are hated by many of the locals. In this mission, the location of the target are at the Bangkok river market. Joe took Kong to help him steer the boat. Unfortunately, the mission does not go so well. Things are getting messy, when the local salesman distract Joe from shooting his traget. This causes the criminal to become suspicious of Joe and aware that he is carrying a gun. Knowing that, he immediately try to escape from Joe. They both play a game of cat and dog. While Joe tries to hunt the criminal, The criminal makes a run of it.

Eventually, Joe succeed in murdering his target after a series of chasing. After that is over, Joe goes out with the local girl again but this time, it might be the last for him to ever meet her again. While He is going out with her at a park in the night, Joe was attacked by the group of gangsters thug that wanted him dead. The girl which is numb and deaf, can't hear the sound of gunfighting and brawling and so at first, she didn't shocked or surprise. Suddenly a blood splashes to her clothes and then she realize that Joe is a murderer. From that day onward she never wanted to meet with him again, eventhough he is already apologizing to her. This event causes Joe to question himself on why he kills. After that, he finally receives his final contract. He is asked to murder an important person. A person that is loved by the locals. Eventually Joe makes a decision on not killing the target and then abandon the contract deep within himself. Joe decided that he has one final things to do, To have revenge on the Gangster that offers him the contract. Joe was getting more furious when he knew that Kong, his partner and student, has been held hostage. Single handedly, he storms the mob's hideout and kill everyone that stand ini his way. He finally found where Kong is held and saves him. In the end, Joe make a pursuit on the mob leader which is trying to escape with a car. Unable to flee, Joe threatens and intend to kill him.

Unfortunately, The sound of fighting are heared by the policeman, and they regroup quickly to the location where Joe is present. Knowing that he will be arrested or even die, Joe makes one final decision. He decide to end his life together with the mob boss by pointing his gun over his head while "grabbing" the boss's head near toward his head. The police had arrived and declared Joe and boss to surrender. Without hesitation, Joe pulls the trigger of his gun and finally died with the boss together. In the last scene, we could saw Kong standing nearby a sea looking towards the sky, probably trying to remember his master deed's toward him. This ends the story plot. And now I will give my opiniion to the film. The truth is, this movie rocks. There is a lot of actions and cool fightings. But the factor that makes the movie looks rather unlogical, is it's theory of killing and also the unimportant romance.

This causes the story to become more like a drama instead of action movies. Well that is what I think in my own opinion. Maybe other people may not think the same. Maybe some will say that it's perfect. But for me, I give this movie 8 out 10.
