Handout Chp. 7

On the handout for chapter 7, it explained about the comparison/contrast essays, these kinds of essays are mostly contained about two things that can be described, which are the similarities and differentiation. The comparison essay is more to similarities aspect, and the contrast essay is more to differentiation aspect between two things. Actually, it is easy to make this type of essays, but sometimes it is hard to find either of its similarities and differentiation between two items, because I think it is easier to find only one aspect (Similarities or differentiation) in making essays. On the other hand, I think this difficulty could be solved if I learn and evaluate more about the theories to make a good comparison/contrast essays.

Indonesia Won the First Place of Ornament Car in Paris

At Saturday, July 5th, 2008, Indonesia was participated at Tropical Carnival that already celebrated 7 times by the government of Paris. The theme of De Carnaval toutes les Couleurs (Carnival with variety of colors) was attended by more than 30 states, which are Brazil, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, and many more. The Carnival was started exactly at 2 o'clock (Paris time).In this parade, the juries will also choose the participant that has fine costume and appearance. According to Tatiana Handayani, the specialist of social and cultural from ambassador of Indonesia in Paris, the participation of Indonesia in this event is to introduce themselves to the citizen of Paris and to support the program of 'Visit Indonesia 2008'. Indonesia put their theme as "Unitans la Diversit" (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika), they performed the traditional music that played by several staff from the ambassador of Indonesia in paris and from the Indonesia itself, they also played their instruments on the the top of the truck that has been adorned, that is the ornamented car. On the front row of the vehicle, there are 31 dancers with Dayak costume from East Kalimantan. As a result, with the effort from Indonesian participant, they won the first champion for the best ornament car.

40 Days In Europe

This is not a story about someone having a merry trip traveling many cities all around Europe, but this is a heroic story about how 35 Indonesian teenagers from Bandung, West Java, involved in an impossible mission, participating throughout many art and culture festivals in Europe and won every single of the trophies from every festivals with a very limited budget on their hands.
Their names now have been heard and talked all around the Europe and they have also succeed on introducing the art of Angklung, a music instrument made from bamboo which is originally found in Indonesia. This inspiring story started in 2004 when some teenagers from SMA 3 Bandung (35 of them) have made a noble decision to introduce Angklung as a magnificent piece of art of Indonesia to the world. They created an organization known as ESA (Expand the Sound of Angklung) and decided to participate all of the art and culture festivals in Europe. They practiced almost everyday in order to be able to play Angklung and they worked really hard to find any sponsor that will help them to pay for the plane tickets and accommodation during their stay in Europe. Ironically, there are no companies nor the local government agencies that interested and willing to help their culture mission in Europe. However, the teenagers didn't give up and they decided to go to Europe with their OWN MONEY which of course was very limited and must be used carefully. They also weren't afraid to compete with other countries like Japan, China, and many others that also took part in the festival.
Nevertheless, in spite of those obstacles that they have been through, they managed to give their splendid performance they worked so hard and it truly gave an awe to all of the audience. They have finally survived for 40 days in Europe and even came home to Indonesia with a "Cipuaga" trophy that they won from a very prestige and well-known art festival at Zakopane,Poland. Now, many young people in Indonesia have inspired with this heroic story and starting to learn more about their own culture. As the matter of fact, even more and more people from all around the world are coming to Indonesia and study Indonesian culture especially Angklung which now has became quite famous for the foreigners. Having said that, we as the young generation of Indonesia must learn from this story and start taking responsibility to protect Angklung and many other Indonesian culture.

The New Jazz come to Indonesia

Honda launch again their new product to Indonesia. It's Honda Jazz '08! Indonesia Honda's Distributor, launch and publicated it in Plasa Senayan on June 21-22. We can see there, a lot of people from other city came to Jakarta just want to see Honda's Exhibiton. The new Jazz'08 have different style and body design from the previous series. it looks more facelift of the current Jazz rather than an all new model, however it will be 50mm longer and 20mm wider. Indside it, we can see a good feature model and design better than jazz'07. The handle bar change more modern than the previous one, a good velg & wheel, body paints, etc. Finally, i think that the new jazz'08 is the best city car in Indonesia now.! ^

Today's Presentation

Today is my presentation. I did my presentation as the begining alias the first time. As you can see in the picture, the topic is E - Ticket. I encourage my self to be the opening the get extra points, because I believe to get the best need extra effort. Hm...Actually, I admited my presentation today is not the best. There is a technical problem which is the font size. When I finished, I already verify my work!! But, I don't know what happened with my presentation. However, I have done all the best I can, so no need to regret.

By the way, I forgot to tell about my experience in using E-Ticket. I forgot perhaps because of nervous. Yeah.... natural character of human when they face into public. Owh.. Forget It!!!

Few years ago, I went vacation to Hong Kong with my family. Over there, I tried all of things that I have not try before. One of them was try to use MTR (Mass Transit Railway Station) to spent my long day. MTR use E-Ticket as its service to the customer. All the providers are electronic services, no one of people or human resources there. Here was the funniest thing of my experience. I bought the lowest ticket price, but I could get the best service!! I mean, as the picture at the link of http://www.cucy.org/c2k/img/hong-kong-mtr.jpg you can see the route!! I bought the lowest ticket price which is ticket from Hong Kong to Kowloon. As the rules, I just could enter and pass untill Kowloon, right?? In Fact, I could go through and pass to Tsing Yi. That's what I have said before: lowest price, highest service!!! do you believe it???

Yeah..I still keep the MTR card as my proof, if you don;t believe!! What kind of security is it??

But, Now in 2008, I don't think so because the rapidly IT improvement and developement!!

Polaroid Camera

Nowadays, the digital world become more sophisticated and modern. Almost all people in the world use a digital camera to take a photo instead of ordinary camera with the film roll. This is one of the effects of the technology improvement. Nevertheless, camera polaroid has something different and unique even it is the old style of device. This kind of camera was become the most popular camera once. With the polaroid camera, we can get the photo paper directly from the camera. The color and style of the photo has its own uniqueness. According to me, polaroid camera photos create more memorable images. There are some products of modern polaroid camera in this era. We can still use and feel the differences of it.
