Final Project

I'm so stressed now. I've to finish my final project as soon as possible. My team is consist of me and Bayu. We choose personal information manager as our final project. Actually, we divided our task. My job is to make the Personal Data, while Bayu is to make the Tasks. So far, I've almost done my "Personal Data" about 80%. Unfortunately, there are two things that make my task is not completed yet. The first one is sort the data in alphabetic order. The next one is make the data easier to read. In my program, the information is always written to the right side. What I want is each data is written in one line.

Can anyone help me? pls.... :'( :'(

Singing about santa have you ever think of how many santa that you see this christmas. For me i saw around 12 santa(seven in a row when walking in the mall with Steven and Monica). Well after thinking of it, it's 25th of december so it's time for santa to have a vacation until next year :) ( so it's the holiday for santa N'du :p ).

All i want for christmas...

Well did you all get the christmas present you want?? For me i got few that i want but not all. But i think it's great enough thinking the economic ressesion we have.
But still my phone still suck ( Just yesterday my phone went AWOL in a middle of a call ). I hope i can get a new phone ( you gave santa wrong present this year ). Hahaha but still the present is great :). Between all the ting i can put after the sentence I still think the best word for that sentence is You.

We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy New Year.
Glad tidings we bring
To you and your kin;
Glad tidings for Christmas
And a happy New Year!

I WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Journey to Garut

Today I have just arrived at my home from Bandung. I spent three days for my vacation. At first, I didn't want to go; but, as I knew that Resa was going to go to Garut, I decided to go. I planned to visit his house in Garut, as it is not so far from Bandung.
I, with my family, departed in Monday morning. In the journey we found some difficulties, such as crowded road and lost of direction. We are not very familiar with the roads outside Jakarta, so we had to ask people about the place we wanted. We were confused when we encountered a very steep road. Not only steep, but it is also damaged; it has so many holes. Our car didn't have enough power to climb it. Then we decided to get off from the car so that it can go up. The result is, the car successfully arrived at the top of the road, but we were very exhausted because we had to walk. I was afraid that my grandfather couldn't make it. Somehow, we managed to survive that steep road. After passing it, we entered Kampung Sampireun to stay. The place is so nice and beautiful. We could see a mountain view and a beautiful lake in the center of the resort. In addition, the food was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating.
The next morning, we continued our travel to Garut, my friend's hometown (Resa). I think Garut is a small town, but the road is crowded and confusing. We found Resa's house easily since it is located exactly beside Yogya Supermarket (that is a coincidence: Resa's last name is Yogya!). After ringing the bell, Resa opened the door so that I could enter. Inside, I chat for a while with him. After a few minutes I left his house because my family wanted to continue the journey to Lembang. I was a bit dissapointed because I thought that I could stay longer.
There were not many things we did after that. We stayed in Lembang Asri Resort, went to Bandung to shop in Rumah Mode, then we went home. In my opinion, this vacation is enough for me to refresh my brain so that I can continue working on my project and homeworks.

Personal Journal : Christmas

Well my fav holiday is near. Christmas is near. It's time for celebration and gifts( one of my fav ). Just today binus inter is having it's christmas celenbration it's very nice. There's a christmas tree, band, food, and many more. But the one that surprises me is the Santa Claus, i like to see people who dress like santa because he is dressing as one of the image of christmas spirit. Well today i just knew that Santa is one of our classmates. Wew my jaw just dropped when i see him. Well i should have known because his posture is matching with santa and the tummy is the right size( the name of the guy who dressed as santa is not written here to protect the identity of our santa ).

Also i want to say to you all:
HAVE A JOLLY MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Bush Was Thrown Shoes During Press Conference in Iraq

US President, George W. Bush was thrown shoes during his press conference with prime minister of Iraq, Nouri Al Maliki, about the security agreement. The security agreement is about U.S troops that are going to leave Iraq earlier this year. After he had just finished his prepared remark, a journalist named Muthathar Al Zaidi, pulled his shoes off and threw them to Bush. He shouted, "This is a goodbye kiss, you dog."

After that incident, Zaidi and his shoes become popular. An Arabic man, bid Zaidi's shoes for US$ 10 millions. Zaidi also will get a bravery medal from Muammar Qadhafi's daughter. Muammar Qadhafi is the leader of Libya.

Magic or Trick? Who knows...

When I was participating in BILT at Lembah Nyiur, Puncak, We the participant were divided into groups and each group had to perform something. My group consist of peoples from BIBC and BIDC, me, Brian, Michael, Arfi and Sisi. We were performing a drama and saman dance. The other groups, which was BIFC and VOB group, consist of Ogie, Ivan, Abi, Irene and friends, were performing something unusual. They were performing a magic show like. Basically, four of them were lifting the volunteer just by using two fingers, it sounds too good to be true but it really happens. Before lifting, they perform some ritual; they spelled "Cingcangkeling maling kencing di piring". I myself thought that it was just a made up spell because it sounds like an Indonesian slang. After they spelled it, they performed another ritual which was they put one of their hands above the volunteer head one by one and must not touch each other, and then they put the other hand above the previous hands without touching also. Strangely, they can lift someone who has a big body such as Oky Saimima. After that, they asked us to try it also. Then Melcil, I, Ogie, and Abi tried to lift Aswin. First, we tried to lift him without any ritual and we couldn't lift him at all. Then we perform the ritual, which was silly I think, and strangely we could lift him and move him around 2 meters. Unbelievable...

I searched some information on the internet about such spell, but I found nothing. If any of you know about this kind of spell, please tell me.

Christmas Charity 2008

Christmas Charity is one of the event in Binus International to celebrate Christmas. This year,Christmas Charity will be held on JWC Lobby, from 17-18th December 2008 on lunch break. Each club in Binus takes part and a stand to make things crowded there.
BITE(Binus International Trading Enterprise) make a stand that sell foods and drinks which made in an interesting way.
BIMUS(Binus International Music Club) presents 5 bands to sing in front the stage, and my friend,Oky Dany plays guitar very cool to make a rhythym for Joker to sing,It's very good one.
BMDC(Binuc Modern DAnce Club) perform a Saman Dance on the stage. The dance is telling about Aceh and need a lot of teamwork in order to make it successful.
BISC(Binus International Student Commitee) make a Christmas Gram,a program that will send someone's card, chocolate,or Kitkat,to the one who they want to send it to.
BEST(Binus Internationa English Society) make a stand to play Brain Freeze(kind of game that will guess a thing in the box,but they must pay to guess the clue first, then guess it,If they guess it right, they will be given the thing inside) and also Christmas Crosswords.
Unfortunately,it is not too crowded like last year's Christmas Charity. But still it is fun!!and I enjoy it a lot.^^

Fun Fair

My friends from high school asked me if I wanted to go to Mahatma Gading’s fun fair (Mahatma Gading is the name of our high school). I agreed, so on Saturday I visited my old school. My first surprise when I got there was the entrance fee. At the time I attended the school we also had a fun fair and the admission ticket costs only Rp.2,000 but now it costs Rp.10,000. I was also surprised at how much less people came compared to the previous years. The fun fair itself was quite similar to that of the previous years; it included a variety of stalls selling different kinds of food, science and art exhibitions, simple games such as ring toss, haunted house etc. One new addition however was the flying fox, which was setup above the pool. In the middle of the courtyard there was a stage where modern dances and band performances took place. The Indonesian singer Afgan (who I wasn’t quite familiar with but who to other people seemed like a big deal) was scheduled to appear later on that day.

I must admit that I did not really enjoy the fun fair. It was really hot and the games were quite boring probably because I’ve already played them the years before and there was no new interesting food to try. The only bright side of the whole thing was that I got to hang out with my old high school friends who, despite my best efforts, I don’t see too often anymore. It also started to rain just before Afgan was scheduled to appear, so my friends and I left thinking that maybe he wasn’t worth waiting in the rain for. I don’t think I am going to go to the next fun fair, unless they decide to do a complete revamp of the event.

Final Project Confusion

Me and my group decided to make the personal information manager for our final project. I'm confused by reading the project description that we will gain additional points by implementing graphical interface to improve our project such as using OpenGL and DirectX. Anyone have an idea about this? I'm also confused to implement the calender, what should the interface looks like. If you have an idea about all of these please contact me. Thanks!

Book Review: You'll Die in Singapore

The author of this book is Charles McCormac, a war veteran from England. It contains a true story of himself as a prisoner of war in the World War 2.
The story started when Japanese attacked Singapore. Civillians, including Charles were being captive in Pasir Panjang Camp. They suffered hunger, thirst, and humiliated by the Japanese soldiers. Those Japanese soldiers often showed violence in front of the prisoners to show how serious they were. The conflict began when Charles and some of his friends managed to break out of the jail. They experienced a lot of difficulties in the escape. The route is from Pasir Panjang, Singapore, to Sumatera, Jawa, then Australia. Through straits, forests, swamps, and fields, the prisoners faced many threats. In certain moments, they were helped by the Indonesian natives and Dutch soldiers. Somehow they survived by arriving at Australia. Out of the seventeen prisoners, only two of them survived.
In my opinion, this book is worth to be read. The writer described the events and environments accurately, so we can easily imagine when we read the book. This book is not suitable for kids under age because the story has a lot of violences.

Final Project stuck??? no way!

my head has been thinking about the programming principle's final project since the beginning of December and because of it, sometimes I can't sleep. If I'm playing a game or doing something which make me happy, somehow i just remembered the project and suddenly I turned sad, like there's a heavy burden in my body. There are some problems about the project that causes me like this. First, the final project isn't easy. I don't really understand how to make the program. Second, the christmas holiday is coming in a week from now and my partner's house is far away from my house, so I'm thinking about a way to finish the work together in the holiday or I have to finish the project in one week. and the last one, in the last week, I've got that melty blood competition on thursday.... I can only do the work after the workshop. Maybe i'll do the work on Monday since we've got a long break.

but, aside from those problems, I still believe in my partner, I'm sure she'll help me to finish the project faster and I also have to study a bit about the codes that will useful for the pragram. And I also hope my other frieds will help me. So, Let's do The WoRK!!!

Hart's Wierd Game

Here is an English game I invented when I razing through my dictionary. Unscramble these words to English and Indonesian words OR English and English words. The English and Indonesian words OR English and English words have a connection. And here is the hint for the connection : "Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of all?"

GINAA ; IRA ; UMR ; AARJ ; IDA ; UMAL ; ADIM ; OMAK ; IDAV ; AEMS ; DARAR ; AEMHR ; ALTI ; LHOA ; ASH ; ETH ; REA ; DTIE ; ELE ; DAARR ; ALG ; ART ; EREL ; ELG ; ARM ; IMD ; OMB ; ENT ; IPN ; UBN ; APR ; ATP ; OPT ; ALIR ; AILD ; AWR ; ERED ; AYP ; AMY

Well, because there are too many three-letter words, I guess this will be easy. Good luck then. b^^d

I Need Holiday !

I'm really tired this week. I have a lot of assignments and also activities. For the assignment, I have to finish the survey and presentation for introduction to IT. The problem is I don't have enough time to sleep. As a result, I get flu and cough. I have eaten some medicines, but I don't think my body is getting better. I should take some rest and have enough sleep during weekdays.

Actually today, I have to perform on Acoustic Jam Session (AJS). Unfortunately, I haven't prepared anything yet because of the assignments and other activities such as futsal and soccer. I think, I won't perform today. I'm not ready yet.

Oh Binus, please give me holidays. Of course without any assignment. On Christmas and New Year Holiday, I already have two assignments from programming principle and make a summary from book that have relationship with technology for introduction to IT. Can I face all of these? Well, let's see..

Busy Week?

This week, aside from Monday is very hard for me. First, I have to wake up early and go to Binus to finish the Programming Principles project with my friend Christian and Hartanto. On the lunch time, I have to attend CIC fellowship. After the class is over, I have to do the survey. After I got back to my boarding house, I counted the survey. After finished, I realized that I ran out of some things, from mineral water to bathing soap. Not only that, I also had to find the "materai" for IM2 form registration. So I went to Multiplus and they said that the "materai" is sold out. I went to the other shops, but it also sold out. I gave up, and I went to Senayan City to stock some things. It's already 8 o'clock when I got back; I took a bath, browsed the internet and went to sleep.

On the next day, which is today, I also woke up earlier even though I was a bit overslept. On the lunchtime, my friends and I continued to finish the project. Without realizing it, the class was begun soon. It was 3 hours Programming Principles class, I felt damn sleepy at that time. Fortunately, the class ended earlier, but I still have to finish the survey presentation. I've just finished the presentation and began writing this blog actually.

Another work will have to come after me. Tomorrow is Thursday, which means I have 4 hours Academic English class + 1 hour English Workshop. I don't think it's a good idea to have such schedule. Five same subject in a day? Give me a break… The class will be finished at 2 P.M, and I'll have to make another presentation for Intro to IT subject. At 5 P.M, I'll also have the basketball practice until around 11 P.M. Moreover, I’ll have to participate the BILT from this Friday until Sunday. I bet I'll sleepless and restless until that time.

I hope that Mr. Peter Aripin won't give a quiz on Monday... I won't have enough time to study if that happens...

English Debate Workshop, 6 December 2008

Today I attended the English debate workshop which was brought by Miss Anna Manurung. It should be started in 9 am and finished in 3 am. In fact, we actually started at 9.30 because Miss Anna woke up late (she admitted it). The attendats were surprisingly few, just around 10 people. From 01pbc, only I and Steven were present. Besides us, there were Aldo, Salman, Lesli, Joshua, Henri, and the girls whose name I forgot.
In this workshop we learned about the rules and techniques in 3 on 3 debate. There are so many rules that I can't remember them all. After explained, we had a practice of debating with the topic "Men are fairer sex". We were divided into two groups; one group consist of boys, while another group consist of girls. Before that, we got the chance to watch first speaker demo(affinitive and negative) by Steven and Henri. At that time I realized that debating is so difficult. At the end of the workshop, Miss Anna told us that there will be 3 on 3 debates between classes. The class which wins the debate will get additional score of 5 for Academic English course. At 12.00 the workshop ended; it should be at 3.00, but the debaters had to do something important.
Honestly, there are things that I don't understand: what is fairer sex? why do people tap the table in debating? what is "shame, shame" / "hear, hear" ? Why is Miss Anna called "Bong" ?

Boring week

This week I feel really really super boring. You know why?? BECAUSE MY LAPTOP IS BEING REPAIRED!!! My laptop's screen is broken. So, I pass this one week without doing "programming" on my laptop. It really feels like in hell. To me, "programming" is very essential in my life. One day without doing "programming", I feel like something is missing in my life. Fortunately, I have a desktop in my home. So I could still do "programming" at home.

On Wednesday, there is a programming principles lesson. At first, I really don't have intention to attend programming principles lesson because my laptop is still being repaired. But thanks to one of my classmates, Henry. He brought 2 laptop and he let me borrow 1 of his laptop. Because of that, on Wednesday I can followed the programming principles lesson with ease. I hope this Friday my laptop is already repaired, so on Tuesday I can bring laptop again to Binus and do some "programming" again with the others.

7 Ways to Learn More Without More Study

"How would you like to learn more without having to study more?"
Here's the article: http://www.usnews.com/blogs/on-parenting/2008/9/2/7-ways-to-learn-more-without-more-study.html

English Games

I found out these websites provides english games, some of them includes palindrome (yes! the programming principle exams), annagram and E.T.C

for the learnenglish.co.uk i missed some plug in because of my harddrive crashed. I think it will use flash as the media of games, while the oxford one will only be a text based game, it's difficult though!

Data Safety measures

Today i faced a major problem regarding data. My harddrives crashed and left me out with a laptop that can't even go to windows, it always shows that it can't load operating system. It become a stressful day even in the morning. I ended up formatting my hard drives in the campus and i lose many valuable datas, even the essay that i'm supposed to hand in tommorrow is gone (i rewrite it all over).

I was told by my friends that in order to protect your data in case something happen, you should create a regular backup for the data, yes i did have it on CD and flashdisk and apparently i lost both (if anybody had seen it, please tell me A.S.A.P, kingston 8GB, black), so it's a dead end for me. The other way is to have two partitions on your hard drives, one for Operating System and one for all your data. In case that your operating system crashed you could just format the harddrive that contains the operating system, and the data can be retrieved safely from the other partitions. Better safe than sorry guys! from now on create backup regularly (yes i'm lazy also) and move your data away from the hard drives that contains the operating system. It really pissed me off that i lose some very important data.

One of My Worst Day!!!

Today I really have no spirit in my life!!I hate today because today is the worst day in the entire life in Binus!!After having an average score for the mid exam,i receive an ultra special packet from both Charles(Lim and Schuster)!!Yes!!Very bad marks (probably the lowest score) for both subject Academic English(really the lowest one) and Programming Principles.I got really shocked until I can't heard and understand any words that is explained by Charles Lim.After that,I drink a cup of Starbucks's Java Chip to make myself cool down.In the Evening,Steven Acong Nyongz ask about my score in Academic English, then I open the accessbi, and the result is......the lowest score from Charles Schuster in my the class.I believe, today is really nightmare for me and the worst day for me.Please,God....Forgive my Sins!!

Computer Journal : Blue Screen Of Death

Does any one know what is BSOD or Blue Screen of Death? The Blue Screen of Death (also known as a stop errorBSODbluescreen, or Blue Screen of Doom) is an error displayed by some , most notably Microsoft Windows, after encountering a critical system error which can cause the system to shut down, to prevent damage. Any one had ever experience this? I've got it once! The story begins when I wanted to add more RAM for my laptop, I go to Mangga Dua Mall and decided to add the RAM. Firstly, my laptop works well as usual. But after 5 days later, BSOD appear on my screen and crash the windows. I decided to browse on the internet to find the way to recover the problem. Many people said that BSOD happen because of my new RAM doesn't suits the laptop. Actually there are a lot type of DDR2 RAM according to their hertz. But I don't know which type is suitable for my laptop and the seller give me the DDR2 676. After checking in the box of my laptop, I found that my laptop is suitable with DDR2 800 and it will not balance if one of the RAM is smaller in size, so the blue screen appears. So, be prepare and careful in choosing your hardware !

the whitest boy alive.

Last Saturday i went to this event called Beatfest. The show was helt at Bengkel night park in SCBD, near Pasific Place. They invited this indie artist called The Whitest Boy Alive, witch i like. Other than Whitest Boy Alive, they also invite a famous DJ by the name of Steve Aoki. There are also some local DJ's and local band play in beatfest.
Well, to tell you the truth, i was late. The show starts at 7 pm, and i arrive at about 10.30. I miss 2 bands, and the first 15 minutes of whitest boy alive. It kinda pissed me off that i arrive late, because i wanted to watch whitest boy alive from the beginning. Although, i didn't miss all my favorite song and that is the good news. I was late because, i have to pick up my friend who was really taking a long time picking the right clothes to wear and also i took a wrong turn in the middle of a traffic jam that forces me to expireance the same traffic twice.
But, it turns out that Steve Aoki was really great. He got this fire works and cool lightings to support him. Eventhough his genre of songs, witch is electronic, wasn't my ideal type of music. Steve Aoki mix it in such a way that it really makes me wanna dance ! And the only thing i regret is i got out early at about 2.30 am, the show was suppose to end at 4 am, because i promise my friend's parents that i would get her back by 1.30 am. So, it was really to bad for those of you who didn't come.
And another thing that i feel important to add is, the girls. The girls was really great. Most of them, wear either short skirts or a dress with a short skirt. And most of them was really good looking. So, it was really to bad for you who didn't come, especially the guys.

English Games

I found a lot of English Games on the internet. All you have to do is just search "english game" in Mr. Google. Here is some of the links :
  1. http://www.english-online.org.uk/games/gamezone2.htm
  2. http://www.learnenglish.de/gamespage.htm
  3. http://www.englishclub.com/esl-games/index.htm
  4. http://www.manythings.org/vocabulary/
In my opinion, one of the most interesting game is Battleship from http://www.learnenglish.de/gamespage.htm . The objective is to destroy the enemy's battleship. You have to guess two things. First is the place of the enemy's ship. The second one is find the correct answer. If your answer were not correct, the enemy's ship can't be attacked.

My New Record !!

Today, I'm happy and also a little bit angry because of my two new records. The first record is I got a perfect score on one of my mid exam. This is my first score that got 100 since I've been studying in Binus University. I hope I can study more seriously and get better score on the other exams.

My second record is I took 2 hours to go home because of the traffic jam. Usually, It only takes about an hour from Binus to my house. I don't know what exactly happened to Jakarta today. Even though today rained a lot, but there weren't flood anywhere. Last Friday, it only took one and half hour to go home although there were flood in some places. I hope tomorrow the traffic jam won't be as bad as today.

Jak Jazz Premium Jazz Festival

4yesterday, sunday 30th november, i went to the jak jazz festival. I only go to the festival on the last day because i got a free ticket, so lucky me.
Overall, it was a good festival. The guess stars wasn't as good as java jazz, but the ticket is not as expensive. I remember i watched a gospel band, witch i forgot the name, but was really joyful to watch. The bassist was really good and the drummer, for me, really stands out. After that gospel band, i watch soulvibe. I don't really listens to soulvibe, but their performance was pretty good. At one point they got Afgan to sing for them. And then i watched the Yellow Jacket, witch was really great. The Bassist used a bass for right handed person, although his a lefty and that was really amusing to watch.
After The Yellow Jacket finished, i watched RAN. They were playing really good, although i still think that their performance in E-Com was better. Because in Jak Jazz, Ran re-compose their songs to be more slow and a bit more jazzy, whearas in E-Com they were really groovy and upbeat. Just the kind of genre that i like.
So, It was a good festival, although it would be better to watch more well-known artist with that kind of price ticket ( 250 thousand Rupiah/ day).
I almost forgot ! I met the most beautiful SPG in the world here. It was after watching the yellow jackets. And we sort of had a moment ! We look at each other for about 7 seconds, and then i gave her a bit of smirk, and then i turn away trying to keep my cool. When my friends was watching Gugun and the Bluesbug, i end up going back and forth her stall trying to steal a look or two !

Movie Review: Twilight

Heres another movie review by me, now that we have a bit more free time as the mid exams are finished, I've been going to the cinemas a lot more. On Saturday, I was lucky enough to get tickets for the midnight showing of Twilight. For those of you who do not know, Twilight is a movie based on a very popular young adult novel of the same name. The film is probably one of the most hyped up and most anticipated movies of this year, especially for the young teenagers who are huge fans of the book. I do read the books, however I don't count myself as one of the crazy fans who absolutely love the book. I must say that there are many flaws to it but it is quite enjoyable and a pretty light read.

The story centers around a teenage girl name Bella who moves to a small town. There, she finds herself drawn to a mysterious classmate named Edward Cullen, who is revealed to be an imortal vampire, but is physically seventeen. At first Edward is against starting a relationship with Bella, but then they end up falling in love. Of course there are complications, the biggest of which is when another group of vampires arrive and puts Bella's life in danger.

I really enjoyed the film, I think it really stays true to the books. The casting was also excellent, each actor played the characters well. If you enjoyed the book than there is no doubt that you would like the film. On the other hand for those who don't read it, you might also like it, theres action, a love story, a little comedy, a good looking cast (especially Edward) and a pretty decent story line. One of the coolest scenes in my oppinion is the baseball scene. So if you have a chance, go see it, you might end up loving it. It will probably start normal showtimes next weekend.

FYI: There will be a sequel based on the next book New Moon, as the movie did very well in the U.S box office.

English Games

Here's the Voice of America's English games: http://www.voanews.com/specialenglish/english_word_games.cfm
Here are some from World English: http://www.world-english.org/games.htm
Hope you can get a chance to try some of them and let us know which you enjoy. We can have a bit of competition if you'd like.
Enjoy!

My Weekend

This time, I will tell you what activities I did and things that happened during this weekend. In Saturday, I started to do the survey for Academic English. I and Fahmi are in one group; our survey topic is about pet. We have to ask some questions to those who have pet(s). It seems that I underestimated this topic. It is not that easy to find people who own pets. In addition, I want the respondents to be variable, not only from Binus. I have asked few of my cousins about their pets.
In the afternoon, I went to a fitness gym in Pasarminggu to train my body. I did bench-press and sit-up to get my chest and stomach more muscular. After training, I watched "Boxing Legend", which is one of sport programmes provided by TvOne.
In the evening, I, my sister, and my mother went to Ace Hardware in Warung Buncit. This Ace Hardware is small but has a lot of goods. I dissapointed that I couldn't find any boxing gloves. I think I will look for it later. Then, we went to Pizza Hut to have dinner. I ordered "Baked Italian...." (I forgot the name) which is a new menu. It has A LOT OF cheese that you will feel uncomfortable if you don't really like cheese. There, I coincidentally met my old friend from elementary school. Now, she is studying in UKI (Universitas Kristen Indonesia).
This morning (Sunday morning), I woke up with a pain in my throat. I think this is a cough symptom; I will have to take some medicines.
I still don't know what I will do today, but I hope this will be a beautiful day for me...

Jouney in 3D

After class on Thursday, my family and I decided to watch the 3D showing of Journey to the Centre of the Earth at EX. Journey to the Centre of the Earth is actually a classic novel written by Jules Verne, who also wrote Around the World in Eighty Days. To be clear, the movie is not an adaption of the novel. However, in the movie the modern characters go on a similar journey and follow clues from the book.

In my opinion, the story of the movie was very mediocre and rather predictable, probably because it is aimed at a younger audience. However I am quite intrigued by the plot, perhaps the book will be a good read. It was quite fun watching the movie in 3D, it made everything seem more vivid, colourful and interesting. This movie, to be sure, is not a must-see but then again, if you have spare time and there is nothing else for you to watch, you might enjoy it and have a little fun with it. I suggest you watch it in 3D though, otherwise I don’t think it will be that interesting.

New book to read..

today... after all the class finished, I went to plaza senayan with my mom. She picked me up at campus and went directly to plaza senayan. She said she wanted to pick the cosmetic that she ordered yesterday. after we picked the cosmetic, we went to kinokuniya.

I saw a book called "Escape From Amsterdam" by Barrie Sherwood. well.. the title didn't attract me but the story attracts me... and actually the story is about a Japanese people. Since I like Japanese's story, finally I bought the book.

In the cover I can see a quote from financial times, "edgy, sexy, and comic, with plenty of zip.". I don't know what that means... but i think the book is interesting and I started to read the book.

well yeah just in a couple of pages in the beginning, I read something surprising and because of that maybe I know why the financial times wrote "sexy".
but that's not all... the book still have more surprises for me as I continue to read.

" Japanese University student Aozora is used to interruptions to his studies - his father telling him how lucky and prestigious he is to be in the course he is, his dreams of the bribes he can pocket when working in the Ministry for Construction, his wishes he'd get back with his ex and his scoring of every other female in comparison, and so on, but not interruptions like these.
First, there's the small matter of a fortune in debt he owes to some small-time thugs. Then, there's the death of a relative and the way he's dragged back to his swampy, backwoods village to meet up with his father and try and arrange the whopping inheritance he's now due.
Then, there's the search for his sister Mai, who as co-inheritor needs to be present so that both can sign their fifty per cent into their own hands. Unfortunately, this is by no means easy, and it soon becomes clear to Aozora that Mai needs to be prised from the grip of some much bigger guns in the underworld, and from their links with a Dutch-themed pleasure park with Yakuza connections." (Escape from Amsterdam.2007)

well that's the review that I picked from a site. Anyway, anyone have read the book??

Barack obama miss the Indonesian food

Barack obama, the next president of America miss the Indonesian food. As Indonesian president went to Atlanta this week for the conference of the global crisis. Our Indonesian president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono called Obama and invited obama to come to Indonesia. Based on what our president said, obama said that he misses Indonesian fried rice and rambutan from Indonesia. It's kind of funny that Obama still remember the Indonesian traditional foods while he was only stayed for 4 years in Indonesia. which means that Obama remembers his childhood very well.

Extreme increase in computer hardware price!!!!

Last Sunday I went to Mangga Dua Mall to buy some computer stuffs. When I reach there, I'm surprised to see that the price of computer hardware had increased a lot remembering the increase in the price of dollars. Some stuffs such as CD-ROM are increasing nearly two times the original price, usually one piece of CD-ROM is around 1200 IDR, but now it increased around 2000 IDR, but the price of pirated DVDs are not increasing. Laptop prices are also increased a lot, luckily I bought my laptop before the dollar increase :) .

Reminder - BP3 Payment

To all Binus International students batch 2012, have you paid your BP3 payment yet? Remember the due date is 28 November, 2 days left. Binus is really strict about payment; you guys should not take this issue lightly. Even if have a good GPA, you'll graduated late if you're not fulfill the payment on time. It's really simple to pay it, you just need to transfer the money into your virtual account and that's it. Thanks to the virtual account, you don't even need to show the transfer slip because Binus will immediately recognize your payment from your virtual account. So, once again I remind you guys to check whether you've paid it or not.

Late payment means late SCU. Late SCU = late graduation. That's what is written on the student service desk. Keep that in mind!

what will be the output?

US Dollars - when will it be cheaper?

Recently, i've been following the US dollar exchange rate. As we know that nowadays America is having economy crisis which affect many other countries, especially Indonesia. Today, 1 USD worth 12.500 rupiahs, few days ago it worth 13.000. In this two weeks, USD exchange rate is around 12.000-13.200 rupiahs, which I think is very expensive compared to few months ago which only around 9.000 rupiahs. I really want to buy some computer hardwares, especially harddisk because i'm still using old harddisk which can only hold 40GB. But unfortunately it's becoming unreasonably expensive. In March, you could buy an external harddisk for 350.000 rupiahs, but now the cheapest one is 575.000 rupiahs; around 200.000 rupiahs difference.

I really hope that next year the economy will be stabilized again, especially America's economy. I hope Barack Obama can suppress this issue.

Now I Have a Punching Bag!

In last Saturday, I and my family went to Pondok Indah Mall. In Ace Hardware, I found an interesting punching bag. It was red coloured, big, and very heavy. I was really happy when I knew that the price of that punching bag is discounted 70%. Then we bought it.
Recently, I have been interested in boxing; so, I wanted to have a punching bag. I have to wait until Monday to use the punching bag. We needed time to discuss where it will be placed. At last, we agreed that the punching bag will be placed in front of the garage.
Before the punching bag is ready, I watched some tutorial videos about boxing, so I know how to punch and some of the techniques. In Monday afternoon, I saw the punching bag hanging in front of my garage. I was really excited and couldn't wait to punch it. I went to the place where the punching bag is, then punched it. I don't know why, but I feel that punching is really fun to do. After some punches, I realized that I got a bruise on my right hand; it may be because I punched with too much power.
My father was really skilled in martial arts; so, he knows a lot about punching and kicking techniques. He promised that he will teach those techniques to me. I was happy to hear that.
Today I practiced kicking. It is so difficult to do; I often miss the target. I will train everyday so that I have a strong body.

Life without Pain---CIPA

ever dream of life without pain ? I was watching dr.house M.D the other day and they have this interesting case where one of the patient is unable to feel pain. The first thing that came into my mind is that it cannot be true. It just another hollywood make-belief. But i did a bit of research on that particular topic, and it's turn out to be true.
That condition is called CIPA ( ceepa ). CIPA is a short term for Congenital Insensitivity to Pain. It's a very rare genetical disorder and still untreatable. People with CIPA also cannot feel hot and cold. It may sound cool that people actually can't feel pain, but actually it's very dangerous. If someone cannot feel pain doesnt mean that they are indestructable. Because pain is really a sign of warning that you need to rest or you need to take it easy. without that warning people could be in a critical condition but still feel fine.
People with CIPA also very volnurable to being over-heated. Because people with CIPA cannot feel hot and cold, their body cannot sweat. Because they cannot sweat, the heat will be sealed inside the body and easily causing heat stroke.
The cause of this disease is the genetic mutation that disrupts the development of small nerve fibers that transmit pain, hot and cold sensations to the brain. the number of people suffers from CIPA are not known exactly. But in November 2004, the New York University School of medicine that specializes in the treatment of CIPA only had 35 patients on file, of whom 17 were from the United States. Japan has the world's only association for CIPA patients, which has 67 members.
well, remember that pain is your friend. as long a you feel pain you know that you are alive.

The New School Schedule

Have you heard about the new school schedule starting in January 1, 2009? The government made this new schedule to prevent the traffic jams that always happen in Jakarta. Starting on the 1st of January 2009, the student will have to come earlier to school because the school will be started at 06.30 a.m.

There are some pro and contra according to this new regulation. The pro is the students will be more discipline. It also reduces the number of students who often come late to school because usually there is no traffic jam in the morning. The contra is for they who use public transportation. Some of the public transportation aren't ready yet to operate in the morning. The government has to find the way out for those who use public transportation in the morning.

Gundam Review: MG Gundam RX78-2 Ver. O.Y.W.

This time I will do a little review about my newest Gundam model. The name is Gundam RX78-2 Ver. One Year War (Master Grade). This kit costs 385.000 IDR. I think it's not very expensive for a master grade kit. Unfortunately, it is a bit difficult to find this model now. From an online hobby shop (ww.hlj.com), we can see that this product has been discontinued, means that the manufacturer has stopped producing it.
The colours are basic Gundam colours: white, red, blue, and yellow. Just as expected from a master grade kit, the articulations are perfect. The elbow is double-jointed so its hand can reach the shoulder. The arms can rotate 360 degrees. Wrist can bend 90 degrees. The fingers' articulation is similar to the older master grade kits. Thumb and pointing finger can move independently, while the other three fingers connected together. Ventilations on chest can be opened and closed, as well as the cockpit hatch. The skirts, front, side, and back move independently. The most amazing articulation is the legs'. It can bend so far to the back, making the model capable of doing crouching pose.
The accesories consist of a shield, a beam rifle, a bazooka, two beam sabers, and Gundam hammer (shaped like a morning star). Each of accesories is well-detailed, especially the shield.
Along with the kit, stickers and dry decals are included. They can be used to enhance the model's detail. Compared to other RX78-2 model kits, Ver. O.Y.W. has more panel lines.
The only weakness this model kit has is not having the core fighter (a small fighter which is the main part of the Gundam's cockpit).
In summary, Gundam RX78-2 Ver. O.Y.W. is a master grade kit which is worth to be bought. The detail and articulations are perfect. In addition, its accesories are complete. Unless you don't like panel lines, this one must be considered to be added to your Gundam collection.

You can see the completed model in dalong.net.

Movie Review: Tropic Thunder

After studying for most of the day on Saturday I decided to take a break by catching the midnight showing of Tropic Thunder. It was definitely the perfect movie to relieve my stress; it was incredibly funny and had a very innovative story line. The movie centers on a group of prima donna actors who are making a Vietnam War movie. However after a series of complications mostly due to the actors’ inability to work together, the director gets fed up and abandons them in the Vietnamese jungle so that they are forced to fight their way out and become the soldiers they are portraying. The story follows them through the jungle and shows the mishaps and hilarious moments that happen along the way, including encountering a panda and a heroin factory.

The movie was directed and co-written by Ben Stiller who also starred in it along side Robert Downey Jr. who I might add is my favourite in this movie and Jack Black. The movie is laden with celebrity cameos including Tobey Maguire, Sean Penn, Tyra Banks and many more. Also keep a look out for Tom Cruise who might be harder to spot than you think.

The movie is full of action and laughs and I advise you all to go see it. (The funniest part for me was when Robert Downey Jr. spoke mandarin). Also do not come late to the movie as at the start they show a number of fake trailers of fake movies that the actors in the film were in. They already had me laughing out loud from the beginning. It was definitely one of the funniest movies I have seen in a very long time.

Indocomtech, 14 November 2008

Today I went to JCC with my friend, who lives in the same boarding house as mine. After we pay for the entrance ticket we went inside and there was a lot of stand selling computer hardware such as flashdisks, portable harddisks, motherboards, VGA cards, CDs, DVDs, etc. Then we went to the other hall, and we found more stand there. Almost all stands are related to computer, and as oky said, you can find a lot of laptops here. We split, and after walking around, I saw a Binusian sophomore in Speedy stand, Fion. I was so surprised because she was wearing speedy uniform, apparently she was having part-time job there. Then I went to the other hall, which was Indo Games exhibition. There, I found a lot things related to games, from arcade to WCG (World Cyber Games). I watched a while the Counter-Strike match, the contestant seemed so professional. There is also a stage there; a music band is performing Simple Plan’s song. I found a stand which was promoting Indonesian games, they sell a game cd which includes 38 games inside of it and it’s developed by Divine Kids (Indonesian game developer). They also were showing their online games project, which is called Nusantara Online. But I think it’s still can’t compete with the other online games. After that, I went to the Book Fair. Lots of good books can be found there, from comic to encyclopedia. I also found International books which are used as our text book in Binus and it was cheaper. Maybe they give discount in this event so it’s cheaper. After having some fun, I and my friend went back to our boarding house.

This event will be held until 16 November. For those who haven’t got any plan for this weekend, I recommend you to go here. It’s a rare event in Indonesia, don’t miss it.

Indocomtech, Indonesia Game Show, and Indonesia Book Fair 2008

Indocomtech, Indonesia Game Show, and Indonesia Book Fair is being held in Jakarta Convention Center in November 12-16, 2008. The entrance fee is Rp5.000,-. In Indocomtech 2008, there are several big companies who offer a lot of notebooks and desktops, while in Indonesia Game Show 2008, some Indonesia online publishers show their newest game. There are also some new books, which are being sold, in Indonesia Book Fair 2008.

Today, me and 3 of my friends (Julian, Amin, and Victor from 01PCC) went to JCC. Actually, we are looking for a notebook. Except Victor, he only accompanied us because he already had a notebook.  We must have a notebook because we are taking computer science major. If we don't have a notebook, we will have a lot of problems in learning programming. We only went to the Indocomtech and Indonesia Game show.

There are three things that have to be considered in buying a notebook : the specification, price, and size.  After considering all of the notebooks in the exhibition, we found the notebook that could fulfill those three things. First, Amin found Toshiba Qosmio. Then Julian found Dell Inspiron 1420 Laptop. Next, I found Acer 4730G. Actually, we didn't buy the notebook at that time, but we were only searching for the notebook. We will buy it next time with our parents.

After searching the notebook, we went to Indonesia Game Show. There are some interesting games which were build by Indonesian people. Unfortunately, I am forgot the games' name and the publisher.  You won't believe that games were created by Indonesian people.

In my opinion, this event was exciting. I can see a lot of new technologies in there. Unfortunately, the notebooks are expensive because the rupiah is getting weaker everyday. However, the notebooks and the computers in the event are not that expensive if we compare with other store because the company gives you some bonus if you buy their product in the exhibition day. Well, if you want to find a notebook, a desktop, or a new game you should go there.

I Love Takoyaki !!

Today's class schedule is the same as Friday's; so, we finished our class early at 9.30 am. After intro to IT's class, some of my friends were going to somewhere for their packet c program. Today I decided to try eating takoyaki in Senayan City. I don't like going alone, so I ask my friends to accompany me. At around 9.45 am, I, Hartanto, Resa, and Leonard went to Senayan City. We had to wait until 10.00 am because Senayan City opens at that time.
As soon as the building opened, we went into it. Before going to the food court, we accompanied Leonard to the bank. What he did was refilling his Flazz card. Then, we took the escalator to go to the food court. I quickly went to Okirobox's counter and ordered a box of octopus takoyaki. It was dissapointing that my takoyaki was so slow to be prepared. When the others had started eating, I still waited for my food. When it's ready, the takoyaki looked so appetizing with mayonnaise and some dried fish on the top of it. The smell was good too. So, I didn't hesistate to put them into my mouth. It was so delicious ! I really like the sauce, which I don't know what it is, and the outer part of takoyaki which is so soft.
In short, I like the taste of Okirobox's takoyaki. I just a bit dissapointed about how long it took to be cooked. Leonard informed me that there is a delicious takoyaki in Kelapa Gading. I will definitely try that one !

It's a legendary spear. A very powerful relic. The holder will be blessed with power to change the course of history.

The spear itself hold the history of many changes.

Well anyway before anyone ask. It's not a spear that a legendary valkyrie use.
It's a relic that was "created" 2000 year ago. That have changes the course of history few times. The known holder that we know ranged from Herod the Great, Pope John XII, Constantine the Great, even Hitler and many more.

The spear have many name in history, if you know your history in myth and occult you'll noticed what the spear other name is the Spear of Destiny or in christian religion maybe it's more widely known as the Holy Lance.

The spear that pierced the side of Christ.

Note : If i have time i will gives more story on this.

Baby and Lift

I have just arrived at home and that accident is still recorded in the back of my mind. I was enjoying my quiet sunday going to Taman Anggrek. When I decided to go home, I took lift to ground floor. On the 2nd floor, the lift stopped and the door opened to the side, and suddenly I hear a loud cry of a baby in front of me. Apparently, There was a baby touching and playing with the lift's door from outside when waiting for the lift. Suddenly the door opened to the side and the baby didn't let go of his hand. His hand slipped to the narrow gap of the elevator door with the glasses and it is painful that he cried so loud. Fortunately, his parents noticed it quickly and pull his hand out of the narrow gap.
This accident draws a lot of attention towards the parents and baby, fortunately no serious injury happens, only a red mark on the baby's hand. The security of Taman Anggrek also seemed panic regarding this issue that they run to the spot directly. So people, if you have baby wherever and whenever you are, please pay attention to what they are doing as they still know nothing. Paying attention to them is one way to prevent this kind of accident.

Movie Review : Quantum of Solace

Quantum of Solace is the new James Bond movie. I was really looking forward for this movie because I like Bond movie. It’s kind of disappointing to say that Quantum of Solace is a disappointment for me. It still has a lot of action but this one has lost it’s ‘Bond’-ness that truly make a James Bond movie unique. 3 major factors that really makes a Bond movie stands out are : The Bond Girl, The Gadgets and The Cars. Quantum of Solace failed to deliver in all 3.

The girl, for me, wasn’t good enough. Not that she was terrible in acting but it more to the physical appearance of the bond girl in this movie. Yes, she is still sexy; but , for me, she doesn’t live up to the standards of other bond girl in the past. Next one is the gadgets. On their last installment of Bond movie, the Casino Royale, there are also lack of gadgets. But in Quantum of Solace, the Gadgets was literally gone. Bond doesn’t use any other gadgets other than the hand gun. And the biggest disappointment was the lack of sporting car. Bond movies are use to have all this ‘kick-ass’, top of the crop and sophisticated sports car. The best car you will see in this movie are the Range Rover. All due respect to Range Rovers all over the world, but you guys are not worthy to be compare to other bond car in the past.

And the biggest disappointment of all, are the story line it self. There wasn’t any clear plot in this bond movie. On the first half hour, they were talking about this secret organization that they are trying to bring down, but later on in the movie, the secret organization were not even mention anymore. I mean at the end of the movie I was like “what ? it’s over already ? What about this one and that one ?”. The story line have a lot of holes in it, that are questionable.

Overall, if this was a normal action movie, I would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. But because remembering this is a bond movie, I would give it a 2 out of 5 stars. Comparing this one to Casino Royale, that I thought was an incredible movie, I would give this one a low 1 out of 5 stars. A disappointment, but remembering the movies that are currently on the theater today, it’s quite worth watching if you don’t have anything to do. And this movie is not worth a long line in the theater. If you are going to watch this movie, and you see a long line, than just forget it. And P.S. This movie have some connection to the Casino Royale. If haven’t see casino royale, than it would be kind of hard to understand the story.

Games and EXAM! Manage the time!

I guess I should start to manage my time for this month. Because I just realized that I can't stop playing games and mid exam is coming closer. About a week ago, I went to a forum and I read about a game called "Magical Battle Arena"(MBA) and there were some screen shots of the game there. MBA is an anime based 3D fighting game. I also saw a video about that game showing that MBA has online mode. Sounds interesting.... so I went to google to find the game and I downloaded it. After first try... and then I became addicted! it's a very nice game.

And yesterday, 5th November 2008, I saw something in Resa's Laptop. and he said that it was a Game called "Scarlet Weather Rhapsody"(SWR). SWR is same as MBA, an anime-based fighting game. SWR only has 2D graphics but it has nice effects! so, I gave Resa a Flash disk and he copied the game for me. Oh yeah another game for me! I haven't finished playing MBA and I Just got a new game. Resa also have this SWR game so we can play the game together using network mode.

Just this morning, 6th November 2008, Andrew offered me a game called "Valkyrie Battle Profile" (I don't really remember the exact title). He said that the game is also exciting. Too bad I forgot to copy it from him, maybe tomorrow.

The last one... tonight I browse the internet again to collect some information for Intro to IT presentation and I found another anime based fighting game called "Melty Blood" and I found the link for the download in just 1 minute. Now while I'm writing this blog, I waited for the download to finish.

Looking forward to the future, I just remembered that mid exam is coming closer. My happiness can't last long. I want to get good grades in the exam so, I have to manage the time for playing and studying. I hope I can be strict to myself to the schedule.

Please read the following sites while you are preparing for your debates. Knowing about fallacies is also very useful in all your academic writing. Watch for examples in advertising and from politicians.
"Fallacies are common errors in reasoning that will undermine the logic of your argument. Fallacies can be either illegitimate arguments or irrelevant points, and are often identified because they lack evidence that supports their claim. Avoid these common fallacies in your own arguments and watch for them in the arguments of others." A good website: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/659/03/

Here are some other good resources for understanding logical fallacies

This Week..

This week is the hardest week and also the happiest week for me. It is the hardest week because I had 6 assignments for the programming principles subject. The assignments were very difficult to me. Before studying in Binus, I've never learned about programming. This make me couldn't understand the lecture quickly. By looking at my friend's assignments, finally I can finish the programs.

The second thing that make this week a hard week is because the exam schedule has been posted. It makes me a bit confuse because I am not ready yet for the mid exam. I have to start studying from now on so I can get a good score on the mid exam.

However, this week will be one of the greatest week since I've studied in Binus. Do you know why? Because I will have a band performance today (Thursday, 6th of November 2008). I am very happy because I've never performed again since I was graduated from my high school. Today, I will play 2 songs. The first one is Avenged Sevenfold - a Little Piece of Heaven and the second one is My chemical Romance - Teenagers. Please support my band by watching it tomorrow. Hope you guys like it. Thank you.

Poo in Ice-Cream

A couple was served ice cream which was contaminated with faecal matter at Coogee Bay Hotel in Sydney, Australia. Stephen and Jessica Whyte were given the gelato ice cream free of charge after they complained they could not hear the television which was showing the rugby league final, due to the pub’s loud music. After tasting the ice cream, the couple went to the police. The food was then tested at a laboratory where it was confirmed that it indeed contained excrement but whether it was human or animal they still do not know thus it will continue to be tested. The hotel also got the chocolate gelato tub where the ice cream came from tested but the results show that it did not have any contamination, raising the question of where exactly did the excrement come from. The hotel staff has agreed to do DNA tests in order to clear the hotel’s name. The authorities are still interviewing the staff as well as the couple involved. They are also reviewing the security footage.

Doesn't this make you a little afraid of what you are served?

Foods/Drinks That You Need to Eat in a Certain Conditiona

Do you know that foods and drinks can help us to heal certain condition? And do you know that some foods/drinks that shouldn't be eaten in that condition? Here are some tips about what food that should be eaten in certain condition:

When you're stressed:

In this condition, you should eat low-fat yogurt or mixed nuts. These foods are source of two amino acids (lysine and arginine), which help controlling the stress hormones in our body. Also, sodas should be avoided in this case. A study from the American Journal of Public Health found that people who drink 20 ounces of soda daily are three times more likely to be depressed and anxious, compared with those who drink less.

When you want to increase your metabolism:

Green tea contains a powerful antioxidant called catechins that stroke your metabolism. A study by Japanese researchers found that participants who consumed 690 milligrams of catechins from green tea daily had significantly lower body-mass indexes and smaller waist measurements than those who avoid tea. In this case, you should avoid skipping meals because it can cause your body's calorie-burning furnace cold. So, for those who think that not eating anything can reduce their weight, it's totally wrong.

When you're low on energy:

Raisins provide potassium which help converting sugar in our body to energy. Nuts provide magnesium which boosts metabolism and improves nerve and muscle function. Watch out for caffeine based drinks such as espresso. Indeed caffeine will help you to stay awake, but the sugar contained in it will drain more energy from your body.

When you need brain boost:

Blueberries, especially wild blueberries contain antioxidants that prevent radical damage on brain. Therefore they can improve cognitive processing and reduce risk of Alzheimer and Parkinson disease. Sugary foods such as ice cream should be avoided because they can slow down the nutrients flow to the brain.

When you're under the weather:
In a Canadian study, people who took 400 milligrams of ginseng a day had 25 percent fewer colds than people who popped a placebo. Ginseng helps kill viruses by increasing the body's production of key immune cells. Caffeine will make you stay awake and it can lead to sleeplessness. When we sleep, our body produces more antibodies to overcome viruses. Therefore we should get enough sleep by not drinking caffeine.

When you need to wake up and go:
Eggs are great source of proteins, provide energies and less calories. Whole-wheat toast is also good for breakfast because they provide sufficient energies and low calories. Donuts, cakes, danish, etc contain fats and high calories. Because its high calories, you'll feel hungry sooner before lunchtime.

When you want to get "in the mood":
In Italian research, they found that women who often eat chocolate have a higher sex drive than those who don't. Chocolate contains a chemical called sphenylethylamine that can give you a slight natural high. The cocoa in chocolate contains stimulants that increase your body's sensitivity. Dark chocolate provide more cocoa than other chocolates. Alcoholic drinks can increase your sexual appetites too, but too much alcohol will lead to sleepiness which makes you less excited.

Japanese Drama: One Pound Gospel

One Pound Gospel / One Pound no Fukuin is a japanese drama which is adopted from a manga with the same title. The manga was created by Rumiko Takahashi, who is also the author of Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2. The story is about a young boxer, Hatanaka Kousaku, who is dreaming of becoming the world champion. Unfortunately, he is a glutton. This is a serious problem for Hatanaka, as he can't participate in a match if he is overweight. In one day, he meets a beautiful nun, Sister Angela. Soon he falls in love with her. In later episode, the sister realize that she too, falls in love with him. Their relation has a lot of problem; for example is the strict rules of the convent where Sister Angela lives. The drama shows that the main character often gets confusion in choosing between two things, his dream of becoming the world champion, or his love with Sister Angela.
The main character is starred by Kamenashi Kazuya and Kuroki Meisa as Sister Angela. They both are very popular in Japan. In addition, the drama has LIPS as the theme song which is a successful song by KAT-TUN. The song was ranked number one for two consecutive weeks. So there is no wonder why this drama has good ratings for each of the episode.
In my opinion, this drama is worth to be watched. The story is very clear and touching. Furthermore, the actors are very skilled in acting which won't make us feel bored. If you are curious about this drama, you can watch it from the link I typed below (Crunchyroll).

Rich Cleric Marries 12 Year Old Girl

While reading the Jakarta post, I read in my opinion a bizarre story where a 43 year old man that is also the head of an Islamic boarding school, named Pujiono Cahyo Widayanto married a girl who was only 12 years old. Puji is a very wealthy man as he is also the owner of PT Sinar Lendoh Terang which exports handicraft. He married 12 year old Lutfiana Ulfa in August with the consent of her parents as well as that of his first wife. The police are now building a criminal case against him as it states in the 1974 marriage law, that a woman must be 16 years of age to legally marry. They are also trying to charge him for breaking child protection law by "forcing, swindling and/or trading" a minor to sleep with him.

All I can say is that this whole thing is ludicrous, why do they even have to debate this? This man is clearly a criminal and in a way, a child abuser. However Puji always uses religious arguments to justify his actions, but in my opinion he is twisting religion to suit his own purpose. The parents of this girl must also take some of the blame. They have admitted that it was due to Pujiono’s wealth that they agreed to the marriage, so they are basically selling their child. If this man is not charged with this crime wouldn’t this mean that Indonesia has made it legal for men to marry children? The craziest thing about all this is that Pujiono has plans to also marry a 7 and 9 year old in the near future.

My Activities Today, 30th October 2008

This morning, our class had to do presentation which had been prepared from the last two weeks. One group consists of two or three people. I was in one group with Resa. Our presentation's topic was about robotic which is very interesting for us. From definition to some statistics, we included them in our presentation. I am glad that we can do the presentation well without any difficulty. The other groups are doing well too. From the presentations bought by the other groups I learned a lot of things which I didn't know before, such as satellite, iPod, internet security, and the others.
As the Academic English class ended, I planned to have lunch in canteen. Usually I go to canteen together with Resa and Hartanto, but at that time I thought Resa was still busy with his presentaion group for Intro to IT. So I went to canteen with Hartanto. Suddenly, Hartanto declined to eat in the canteen, and then he went to somewhere I don't know. While I was eating my lunch, I met Winston, Michael, Henry, and Steven Winarto. They were having lunch there too.
After lunch, we decided to play until the workshop begin. We had a difficulty to find a spot where we can play together comfortably, until we found an empty table on the third floor. In 1 pm, the workshop started. Today's workshop was really fun. We just have to make vocabularies as much as we can.

Something will happen on 31th October...

Do you guys know what day is 31th October? I guess most of you already know it. For those who doesn't know, 31th October is Halloween Day. What is Halloween? It's supposed to be the day when mystical things such as ghost and fairy become unusually active. Although it sounds scary, people nowadays seems to be forgetting that definitions and having fun on Halloween Day. They make parties on that night, not the common party, but the Halloween Party where people use horror costumes to disguise themselves. The famous things on the Halloween Day are Jack-O-Lantern and Trick or Treat. Jack-O-Lantern is hollowed pumpkin designed as spooky face and candle/light inside of it. This becomes mascot of Halloween Day. Next is Trick or Treat, it is an event where we demanding treat from the other people by tricking them. In England, Halloween recognized as mischief day because of this. But in Indonesia, people are softer and they won't make a big mess on this day, therefore it's not counted as annoying night in here.
Binus organized this event too. Exactly at Friday, 31th October and started at 5.30 p.m. For those of you who want to join the party, you're welcomed. And don't forget to wear your scariest costume!

So what will you do on 31th October night? Will it be trick? Or treat?

P2

Last Saturday, I watched a movie in PIM 2. The name of the movie is P2. P2 is a parking lot in basement two, where the main actress put her car. The story was about a woman, named Angela Bridges, who was going to have a Christmas night. She had an overtime work at that day. When she was going to go from her office, suddenly her car couldn’t be turned on. Luckily, a security, named Thomas, offered her for a help but Angela’s car still weren’t working. Then Angela decided to take a taxi. When the taxi came, the office door couldn’t be opened. There were no persons left in the building. She didn’t know that Thomas had set all of these so he would have a Christmas night with Angela. Actually, Thomas was a secret admirer of Angela. He had kept an eye on Angela for a long time. Well, this would be Angela worst nightmare. She had to find a way out from the building and her secret admirer.

In my opinion, the movie is boring. They only use two main actors. The most boring part is the movie only use 1 location. It is only a building. The shooting place itself often in the parking lot where you can see there were no lights in there. They also use minim properties in the movie. However, P2 often gave a start. It also made the audiences panic. In conclusion, I’m not recommending you to watch this movie. Don’t spend your money for such a boring movie.

Spooky Cat!!!

Today when I went out for dinner, walking out from my boarding house, I heard something weird. I checked it and I saw 2 cats fought with their sound, haven't started physical fight. 1 cat was meowing at the other cat at high tone. It sounded like, "Myaaaaaawww.....!!!!", like usual. While the other one sounded like, "Huuuaaaaaaauuuwww....!!!!". Of course if you use cat ascent, that sound will more like a cat sound, but the sound is like a 5-year-old boy's sound. Well, I decided to ignore it and went eat because I was hungry already. By the time I got back, they were gone already. Hiyaaa!!! Scary!!! Well, it wasn't very scary, I just felt a little bit spooky and weird because I have never heard a cat sound like that, hehehe.

Smak 1 Cup, RESCUE

i was attending Smak 1 Cup yesterday, the topic of the cup is RESCUE. It stands for Recuperating The North Pole Through The Competitions of Arts, Sports And Languages In SMAK One, if I'm not mistaken.
The entrance ticket cost me 20.000 IDRIn this Cup we can spectate several tournament. These tournament included not only sports but also academical aspect. We can see basketball, futsal, volleyball and modern dance tournament which held in Smak 1 and Sltpk 8 field. Some of the non-sport tournament are English debate, Photography and Band.
I only attend the closing which held on 25 October. However, it was quite fun. i saw basketball, futsal and volleyball final. These match are very tight. Both sides can play equally and their play can entertain spectators. I also watch the modern dance and at around 7 o'clock, Saint Loco (one of the indie band from Indonesia) was giving special performance. Followed by Drive(another band from Indonesia) who started perform at around 9 o'clock. I got home at 9 because i felt so tired, therefore i didn't watch Drive. but i hear from my friend that they were giving their best performance, audience liked them. We also can buy many food and drink if we starving or thirsty.
i think it's fun to attend cup like this one. Nowadays we can find many cup which usually held once a year in several school.

Programming Principles' Assignment is Haunting Me

Last Wednesday, Sir Charles Lim, with his big smile, said that we have to do another assignment for the next two weeks. The assignment consists of six programs: calendar, hexadecimal, power, mathemathic quiz, plane reservation, and maze. Unlike the last assignment, this one is very difficult to make, especially the maze and calendar program. I am sure that Sir Charles Lim is trying to make us partice doing programming so we can be good in it.
I want to finish the assignment as soon as I can, so the next day, I tried to do the programs which is easier to make. I have finished four programs ( mathematic quiz, hexadecimal, plane reservation, and power ). The nightmare started here, when I tried to make the maze program. It is very difficult so that I have been thinking about it too much. Maybe it is hard to believe, but I really get haunted with the feeling that I cannot finish the assigment. In Friday night, at 2 o'clock, I woke up from my sleep because I was really nerveous about the program. At that time, I tried to finish it until 3 o'clock. The result was, the program wasn't finished. It became a strange program which cannot stop its recursion.
The next day I tried to make the calendar program. It really made me mad that I crashed a lot of time. Fortunately, Steven, who is really skillful in programming, has finished it, so I can ask him about the program. Tomorrow I will see the calendar program which made by Steven. I hope I can make it too.
