handout chapter 3
In this chapter, I learn about facts, opinion, quotation, and statistics. The first one is facts and opinions, opinions are subjective, while facts are objective. That is the big difference between facts and opinion, and usually facts contain numbers from research. The second one is quotation. Quotation is one way to support our idea by taking some one's word, but we have to cite the source to avoid plagiarism. Quotation divided into two parts, which are direct quotation and indirect quotation. There are two ways to use the direct quotation, which are reporting verbs and phrases, and punctuation direct quotation. Indirect quotation can be used with changing the tenses of the sentence. The last one in this chapter is statistics. This is the other way to support our idea, beside quotation, and do not forget to cite the source too. In conclusion, this chapter will help us to avoid plagiarism and to support our idea.
