Jason Becker : The Unlucky Guitarist

Jason Becker is an American neo-classical metal guitarist. At 16 years old, he could play guitar very well. Jason has made classical songs more complex than other neoclassical guitarist. If you hear those songs, you will feel that Jason is the new Mozart and Bach.
Jason began to play guitar after he saw in television the death of Jimi Hendrix. After seeing those film, his desire to play guitar was burning. Soon, Jason practiced everyday until he become a great shredder. Shredder means a guitar player who play very fast and clean. At 16 years old, Jason made a guitar demo and sent it to Shrapnel Records. Mike Varney, who was the boss of Shrapnel Records, contacted Jason and introduced him to Marty Friedman. They jammed everyday until they made a band named cacophony. Cacophony has made two albums, "Speed Metal Symphony" and "Go Off!". These albums have drawn all of the shredders intention. Then Jason decided to join David Lee Roth band while Marty Friedman joined Megadeth. Since that happened, their name began popular. A lot of magazine in USA like Guitar World, Guitar Practising Musician, and Guitar Player spoke their great ability in playing guitar.
At 19 years old, Jason began to feel his body getting weak. He was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Eventhough that happened, he could finish his album with David Lee Roth, but he could not join the tour.
Soon, Jason can not move his body until now. He lost all of his ability, especially in playing guitar. All that he can do is only move his eyes. Because of that, his father use the technology of Macintosh which is designed for physical defect people. Apparently, his passion in playing music is still high. He could finished an album, called Perspective, with his computer. Jason states, "I have Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. It has crippled my body and speech, but not my mind."

As you can see from the story above, eventhough you have a lot of weaknesses, it does not mean that your life is over.

IMO, you should listen to cacophony. Jason play with Marty Friedman. The songs are so hard to be listened and to be played. Some of my friends got headache after listen to their songs.
