Album Review : Trivium - Shogun

Trivium is a heavy metal band from Orlando, Florida. This band is consist of vocalist and guitarist Matt Heafy, guitarist Corey Beaulieu, bassist Paolo Gregoletto, and drummer Travis Smith. Trivium was formed in 2000. This band has released four albums, Ember to Inferno (2003), Ascendancy (2005), The Crusade (2006), and Shogun (2008). Shogun has just realesed on various date between September 23 and October 1. Now, I would like to review this album.

Shogun, which has just released, consists of 11 tracks. Their singles are Kirisute Gomen, Into the Mouth of Hell We March, and Down from the Sky. In this album, Trivium gives us a new color to his music. In my oppinion, Matt (the singer) is influenced by Metallica, James Hetfield. Matt tries to sing like James. In album The Crusade, Matt has already sung like Metallica but Trivium's music change also darker than before. In Shogun, Trivium tries to combine between Metallica and their own music. Their album now sounds like metallica's voice with metalcore melody that sounds brighter than their previous album. Bright means Trivium use major scale and chord more than minor.

In this album, Matt and Corey often use duet melody on guitar. They also have their own solo part in each song. The melody is easier to be listened and to be played again by other people. Eventhough Matt and Corey often shredd in every song, but they also play melodious melody.

Well, if you like metal, you should buy this album because Trivium gives us a new color to their new songs. And if you play metal music, this album will influence you. Not like other metal music which the singer often growls and screams, Matt only sings with his natural voice.
